Just three weeks remain on the 2021 LEC Summer Split schedule and the playoff field is starting to formulate. Apart from some unlikely races shaping up in the middle of the standings, the LEC is looking pretty familiar to fans of the league.

But the next three weeks of the regular season will determine which League of Legends squads advance to the postseason and who goes home early. With just three games separating the top seven teams in the league, we could realistically see the entire LEC shift between now and the end of the split. There’s still time for teams like G2 Esports and Astralis—what an unlikely couple—to climb up through the standings and make a push for one of Europe’s top seeds at Worlds.

LEC power rankings: 2021 Summer Split week 4https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lec-power-rankings-2021-summer-split-week-4Fri, 09 Jul 2021 01:09:03 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=424508The LEC is going through some serious growing pains at the Summer Split's halfway point. ]]>

With half of this Summer Split’s games officially in the books, it’s pretty clear that the LEC is still trying to find its bearings. Eight of the 10 teams in the league shifted positions in our rankings this week, with the top and bottom squads remaining perfectly in place like two pieces of bread in an ever-changing sandwich.

Still, there’s nine games left on the board for each team in the league, and by the time those games are played, we could easily see these rankings shift even more dramatically. If the first half of the Summer Split is any indicator, you shouldn’t bank on the league “returning to normal” any time soon. Here are our LEC power rankings after four weeks of play in the 2021 Summer Split.

LEC power rankings: 2021 Summer Split week 3https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lec-power-rankings-2021-summer-split-week-3Fri, 02 Jul 2021 13:39:17 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=421325The LEC saw its wildest week yet last week, and it showed in our power rankings. ]]>

After showing signs of normalcy last week, the LEC has flipped upside-down once again with eight teams shuffling up and down this week’s power rankings. As a result, the top half of our rankings could look unfamiliar to a large number of fans.

We had touted Rogue, G2 Esports, and MAD Lions as three deadlocked teams who would control the ceiling of the league throughout the summer. But just three weeks into the split, that prediction has been upended. In fact, MAD and G2 were this week’s biggest movers, with both teams dropping down three spots in the rankings to both fall out of the top three. But who knows? With how wild things have been through three weeks, those two teams could be right back at the top by this time next week.

LEC power rankings: 2021 Summer Split week 2https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lec-power-rankings-2021-summer-split-week-2Thu, 24 Jun 2021 23:02:29 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=418063The LEC standings are starting to look a bit more familiar after two weeks.]]>

After a wild opening week to the 2021 LEC Summer Split, the league is starting to stabilize. The teams that we thought would rise to the top did so in week two, while several back-end contenders are still making moves.

The LEC is showing early signs of stability in comparison to other leagues around the world, as just two teams swapped spots in our power rankings between weeks one and two. Still, the league is expected to shift and mold itself throughout the summer, as the next seven weeks are surely going to play host to plenty of twists and turns in the standings. With that in mind, here are our LEC power rankings heading into the third week of play in the 2021 Summer Split.

G2’s Jankos talks team synergy and Nelson’s impact in opening weeks of 2021 LEC Summer Splithttps://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/g2s-jankos-talks-team-synergy-and-nelsons-impact-in-opening-weeks-of-2021-lec-summer-splitMon, 21 Jun 2021 17:42:51 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=415792G2 are slowly getting back to their old form after a disappointing spring. ]]>

It’s been a rocky year so far for G2 Esports in the LEC. After an unsuccessful Spring Split that saw the League of Legends roster fail to make the finals, the team rallied themselves in the offseason and headed into the summer determined to return to form as one of the best squads in the world. As part of this journey back to the top of the LEC, the team acquired strategic coach Nelson Sng in the offseason, who was previously a coach for LNG Esports in the LPL.

G2 jungler Jankos explained in an interview with Dot Esports’ Lara Lunardi that the decision to bring Nelson on board came after identifying supposed champion pool issues for the team. “Going into Spring Split playoffs, there were many champions we just didn’t play, so that made drafting very difficult for us throughout the playoffs,” Jankos said. He described Nelson as a “breath of fresh air” coming from the LPL and explained that Nelson’s time outside of Europe allowed him to gain a unique perspective on drafting that G2 previously lacked.

LEC power rankings: 2021 Summer Split week onehttps://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lec-power-rankings-2021-summer-split-week-oneFri, 18 Jun 2021 15:25:17 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=414428The Summer Split is still warming up, but more high-octane matchups are on the horizon. ]]>

The LEC shifted pretty heavily after week one of the 2021 Summer Split, with several teams rising from the dust to post shocking records. Misfits and Astralis surprisingly dominated the conversation during the split’s first week, while the recently-established triple threat of MAD Lions, G2 Esports, and Rogue quietly stewed in the background, all finishing with respectable winning records on the week.

But there are eight more weeks on the board for the LEC and it’d be downright foolish to prematurely judge the landscape of the region after just three games. Still, the standings are moving and so are our power rankings.

Rogue narrowly secure win against Vitality during week one of 2021 LEC Summer Splithttps://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/rogue-secure-victory-in-2021-summer-lec-after-an-close-game-against-vitalitySat, 12 Jun 2021 19:13:12 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=411599The game was undecided until one final fateful teamfight. ]]>

It’s rare that a game of League of Legends is truly even until the final second. But that’s what we saw today in the LEC Summer Split after Rogue clinched an incredibly close victory against Vitality.

The game kicked off to an exciting start with Vitality choosing to lock in both Gwen and Viego—two champions who have only been playable for a single day of the LEC so far this year. Rounding out their composition with hyper-carry Kog’Maw in the bottom lane for AD carry Crownshot, Vitality sent Gwen top lane for SLT, while Viego was left in the hands of Lider in the mid lane.

LEC power rankings: 2021 Summer Split preseasonhttps://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lec-power-rankings-2021-summer-split-preseasonFri, 11 Jun 2021 01:20:12 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=410981A shift in the balance of power has swept across the LEC. ]]>

After a brief offseason between the Spring and Summer Splits, the LEC is ready to return to action. Since we last saw play on the European stage, the landscape of the league has changed quite a bit. Several teams made massive roster moves, while others swapped players around between positions, creating a massive amount of intrigue leading up to the Summer Split.

Back in the spring, history was made in the league as MAD Lions became the first team in six years not named Fnatic or G2 Esports to win an LEC title. Now, the “new kings” of Europe will head back to the Rift to defend their title, while the rest of the league attempts to usurp them.

A race against time: Can Fnatic’s revamped LEC roster come together quickly enough to qualify for Worlds?https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/fnatic-2021-lec-summer-split-previewThu, 10 Jun 2021 18:49:34 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=410672They've got a long way to go to become a Worlds-caliber team and only one split to do it. ]]>

Now more than ever, Fnatic’s League of Legends roster has everything to prove.

The 2021 LEC Spring Split was a mess for Fnatic. After the loss of its franchise player in Rekkles, the team’s cohesion struggled massively. They looked uncharacteristically sloppy and uncommunicative, particularly when it came to starting fights around key objectives. After the team failed to make it to the semifinals, it was clear that changes needed to be made. For a team with this level of history and pedigree, making the playoffs just isn’t enough. Their messaging has always been crystal clear: They’re here to win. But with the scarcity of free agents in the brief offseason between the spring and summer, it was difficult to see where Fnatic would be able to acquire the caliber of player needed to catapult them to success.

LGD Gaming lose 2-1 to Rare Atom in Shad0w’s LPL debuthttps://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/lgd-gaming-lose-2-1-to-rare-atom-in-shad0ws-lpl-debutThu, 10 Jun 2021 14:18:17 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=410486It wasn't quite the LPL debut Shad0w was hoping for.]]>

Shad0w’s return to the competitive stage has been a long time coming. But his LPL stint got off to a slow start today with LGD Gaming’s 2-1 loss to Rare Atom.

This League of Legends series started off strong for LGD, who won the first game in a convincing 30 minutes. Shad0w looked unstoppable on Rumble, finishing the game with a KDA of 20. The team also managed to secure Xiye’s Sylas in the draft phase and he went on to demonstrate just how lethal the champion can be in the right hands. RA had been shut out of the game from minute one and it looked as though the series would be a brief 2-0 for LGD.
