The release of God of War Ragnarök on PC hasn’t been all that easy, with many bemoaning the technical issues and steep requirements needed to run the game. But the most unpopular requirement is that you have to have a PlayStation Network account in order to play.

This has led to the game getting several mixed reviews on Steam simply because of the PSN backlash, and some players taking matters into their own hands to find some workarounds. One player by the name of iArtorias created a mod that allowed people to bypass the PSN requirement, and even vowed to keep the mod online as long as possible. However, an update by Nexus mods seems to have dashed any hopes of that, as the site tweeted a message stating that the PSN-bypass mod was removed by the author and that the site was working on contacting them to figure out why.

God of War Ragnarok is the latest PlayStation exclusive to come to PC, and just like many of its ported counterparts, it’s facing errors and bugs. A common issue being reported by the community is the compiling shaders error. Let‘s see how we can fix that.

After being a PlayStation exclusive for almost four years, God of War Ragnarok is finally on PC for a whole new player base to experience. While the game has reached peak player counts of over 35,000 on Steam, the launch has had mixed reactions due to a handful of errors and PC players not liking the “Sign in to PlayStation” requirement.

Computer-based PlayStation Network naysayers can now rest easy: God of War Ragnarök now has a new add-on that removes the PSN account requirement on PC.

Titled NoPSSDK, this mod from iArtorias fully strips the PlayStation PC SDK runtime requirement for God of War Ragnarök. This means you won’t have to log in to the PlayStation Network (or deal with any corresponding errors) with this mod installed. As for the actual installation, it’s quite simple; you just have to download the mod and paste both of its files into the game directory.

When a heavy-duty console game gets ported to PC, there’s bound to be hiccups that don’t quite sort themselves out. For God of War: Ragnarok, one of the biggest is the black screen of death on startup.

If you’re unlucky, you might not even see the infamous PSN login requirement that turned players away before you’re hit with a solid black wall. Otherwise, you might find yourself stuck on the second startup after having already played for a while.

God of War Ragnarok is finally out on PC. While that does come with the benefits of the platform’s capabilities, it also exposes the game to all the potential vulnerabilities that come with it. One such issue is the game using your integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one. 

The PC version of the God of War (2018) sequel gives you access to tons of fresh features, like Ultra-widescreen (21:9) and Super ultra-widescreen (32:9) support, unlocked frame rates at 1440p and 4k resolutions, as well as modding support. But reviews on Steam have been “mixed” since its release, which was primarily due to the game asking for a PSN account.

It takes good writing to make a memorable story and great voice acting to create an unforgettable experience—and it’s no secret that the 2018 God of War duology knocks both out of the park. 

Critically acclaimed for its unconventional take on a well-known mythology, the series features unique performances to complement fresh takes on well-known deities. While both games have a phenomenal cast and story, it’s in God of War: Ragnarok that the whole Norse pantheon comes into play.
