Pocketpair dropped a new Paldeck video featuring Palworld<\/em>\u2019s Foxcicle, but the only thing gamers are talking about is the icy Pal\u2019s resemblance to two specific Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>
To showcase each Pal in Palworld<\/em>, Pocketpair releases new Paldeck entries along with short gameplay clips. April 20\u2019s Paldeck entry<\/a> centered around Foxcicle<\/a>\u2014a foxlike Pal who \u201clooks up at the sky during an aurora and sings with the most beautiful voice.\u201d A few days later, everyone is talking about Foxcicle, but for the wrong reasons.<\/p>

After IGN put out a tweet<\/a> about the Foxcicle clip, Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> fans all pointed out<\/a> the same thing about the Pal: It looks like a combination of two beloved Pok\u00e9mon, Glaceon and Ninetales. Like the Ice-type Eeveelution Glaceon, Foxcicle is an Ice element Pal with a very, very similar light blue color scheme. Glaceon\u2019s most defining features have to be the flaps that hang down both sides of its face like floppy rabbit ears, and to no one\u2019s surprise, Foxcicle\u2019s design also has those same flaps. They also happen to share the same darker blue socks.<\/p>
Now, you can argue that Glaceon, Alolan Ninetales, and Foxcicle all draw inspiration from arctic foxes, but you can\u2019t deny that Foxcicle looks like it could be the baby of both Ice Pok\u00e9mon. Because of that resemblance, players are again calling out<\/a> Pocketpair for \u201clazy\u201d designs. After all, this isn\u2019t the first time Palworld<\/em> has been flamed for Pals that look too similar to Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> or fusions of them<\/a>. \u201cAre they even trying?\u201d one Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> fan asked<\/a>. \u201cI can\u2019t even defend this one,\u201d another commented<\/a>.<\/p>
Others threw lighthearted shade<\/a> at Foxcicle, including popular Pok\u00e9mon content creator, ShadyPenguinn: \u201cI really love this original design! I just hope they go the extra mile for creativity and make a fire variant to make it standout even more!\u201d A few players even joked<\/a> about Foxcicle being a teaser for Glaceon\u2019s Mega Evolution, a battle mechanic that should be returning<\/a> in the upcoming Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Z-A<\/em> game.<\/p>
The thing is, Palworld<\/em> does have another foxlike Pal, Kitsun<\/a>, which has one of the very best designs in the Pal-collecting game while not looking like a ripoff of any fox Pok\u00e9mon. Intentional or not, it would\u2019ve been nice to see more unique Pals like Kitsun and a few less like Foxcicle or one of the original offenders<\/a>, Verdash.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
