The series takes place 15 years after events in\u00a0Fallout: New Vegas\u00a0and depicts a lot of factions that were a part of the game, like the New California Republic and Brotherhood of Steel. When it comes to the former, it seems almost extinct.\u00a0Additionally,\u00a0FNV's\u00a0canon seems to be interfered with in the show, which frustrated a few game fans.\u00a0But\u00a0FNV\u00a0director Josh Sawyer says he understands Bethesda and\u00a0Amazon's\u00a0decisions. \"This might sound weird, but whatever happens with it, I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0care,\"\u00a0Sawyer told Rock Paper Shotgun.\u00a0\"My attitude towards properties that I work on, and even characters that I create, is that I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0own any of this stuff. It was never mine. And the thing that I made is what I made.\" Sawyer admitted there are things he would have done differently in the show, but he also saw stuff he\u00a0loved. Ultimately, the\u00a0Fallout\u00a0franchise was never his or Obsidian\u00a0Entertainment's\u00a0property, so whatever happens to it and its universe is beyond his control.\u00a0\"It\u2019s\u00a0not my space, it\u00a0was never my thing. I was a guest working on it. So I try to keep a\u00a0level of\u00a0distance between myself and the setting,\"\u00a0Sawyer added. After the\u00a0show's\u00a0release on April 10, fans feared that some\u00a0Fallout\u00a0lore had been erased from the canon because the NCR was nowhere to be seen on the West Coast, and their capital, Shady\u00a0Sands\u00a0was nuked. On top of that, the show seems to be heading to New Vegas in the\u00a0second\u00a0season, but the town\u00a0seems\u00a0pretty lifeless, at least in the teasing skyline we got by the end of the finale.
