Now that there\u2019s a shield generator ultimate, Blizzard has replaced the old shield ability with an entirely new ability: the photon barrier. It\u2019s similar to Winston\u2019s barrier and Reinhardt\u2019s shield, though it\u2019s \u201cprojected on a track of movement,\u201d Kaplan said. It\u2019s intended to be more active than the old shields, giving players the ability to be more creative.<\/p>
Symmetra will now be able to place six turrets on a cooldown cycle, whereas she was previously only able to put down three before the cooldown. Still, she\u2019s only allowed six turrets on the map at one time. \u201cIt allows Symmetra to move her location with the flow of combat,\u201d Kaplan said.<\/p>
Symmetra\u2019s primary and secondary fire weapons work exactly as they have always, with one minor adjustment: The distance for which the beam locks on has been extended. \u201cBut don\u2019t panic, she\u2019s not a long range beam sniper now,\u201d Kaplan added. \u201cShe\u2019s still a very short range character with that primary fire.\u201d<\/p>
The Symmetra redesign will be available on the PTR very soon, Kaplan said. No specific time frame was given.
