Fortnite: Battle Royale<\/em> players on PlayStation 4 will now have access to full cross-platform play. <\/p>
Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global CEO John Kodera announced an open beta for\u00a0Fortnite<\/em> cross-platform play between PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and Mac starting today.<\/p>
Sony has been notoriously strict with its cross-platform play options, despite other consoles and companies allowing its players full access to a game’s capabilities. <\/p>

“For 24 years, we have strived to deliver the best gaming experience to our fans by providing a uniquely PlayStation perspective,” Kodera wrote<\/a> in a post on the PlayStation blog. “Today, the communities around some games have evolved to the point where cross-platform experiences add significant value to players. In recognition of this, we have completed a thorough analysis of the business mechanics required to ensure that the PlayStation experience for our users remains intact today, and in the future, as we look to open up the platform.”<\/p>
