The new kid on the block this year is Dark Frosting, an old ingredient with a new formula. Dawning ingredients drop based on two criteria: which enemy faction you're killing and how. Taking down Vex grants you Vex Milk, but defeating them with Void damage from weapons or abilities may drop Null Taste. This year, Dark Frosting also got a small change to its acquisition process, and it's part of the newly introduced Neomun-Pie cookie recipe for Nimbus. Here's how you can get this ingredient in Destiny 2 while the Dawning lasts. Where to find Dark Frosting in Destiny 2 Dark Frosting drops by taking down enemies with Stasis or Strand damage. Guardians have been chasing this item for years with the icy subclass to bake cookies for Elsie Bray\/the Exo Stranger, but now, the neon-green subclass gets its time in the limelight. Any area with plenty of enemies can eventually net you the Dark Frosting you need, but you can also pair it with different locations to gather faction-based ingredients. Mix it with Vex Milk for Nimbus' Neomun-Pies or farm some Scorn kills to bake Starwort Thins for Elsie with Dark Frosting and Dark Ether Canes. This year's Dawning didn't bring much in the way of new additions outside of the Mistral Lift three-burst linear fusion rifle (with a quite deadly god roll) and perk reissues for most of its weapons. That said, a significant part of the event came with bugs\u2014including a free way to get an upgraded event pass that led Bungie to disable most Dawning progression for a few hours\u2014and Dark Frosting had a similar fate. As of the event launch, this ingredient is using an unmissable bright-pink placeholder icon. Bungie might have reworked the image from previous years to add Strand to its former symbol (which was just Stasis), but the new version is missing. Don't worry about the icon, though: you still get the regular amount of Dark Frosting, and functionally, it works the same as it used to. Guardians have been chasing this item for years with the icy subclass to bake cookies for Elsie Bray\/the Exo Stranger, but now, the neon-green subclass gets its time in the limelight. Any area with plenty of enemies can eventually net you the Dark Frosting you need, but you can also pair it with different locations to gather faction-based ingredients. Mix it with Vex Milk for Nimbus' Neomun-Pies or farm some Scorn kills to bake Starwort Thins for Elsie with Dark Frosting and Dark Ether Canes. This year's Dawning didn't bring much in the way of new additions outside of the Mistral Lift three-burst linear fusion rifle (with a quite deadly god roll) and perk reissues for most of its weapons. That said, a significant part of the event came with bugs\u2014including a free way to get an upgraded event pass that led Bungie to disable most Dawning progression for a few hours\u2014and Dark Frosting had a similar fate. As of the event launch, this ingredient is using an unmissable bright-pink placeholder icon. Bungie might have reworked the image from previous years to add Strand to its former symbol (which was just Stasis), but the new version is missing. Don't worry about the icon, though: you still get the regular amount of Dark Frosting, and functionally, it works the same as it used to.
