Whether you’re heroically rescuing a Katamari Damacy Bot or unlocking a Yharnam Hunter costume, Astro Bot’s dense runtime offers a metric ton of referential PlayStation goodies. The main way to unlock new Crash Site activities is to collect puzzle pieces scattered throughout the game’s planets (stages).
Each stage contains two to three puzzle pieces located in clever off-the-beaten-path areas. The Final Encore planet is a late-game secret level containing some particularly clever puzzle pieces, and that’s where this guide comes in handy!
]]>It seems like the long journey to Astro Bot has paid off. Released in September to universal acclaim—including ours—the 3D platformer now has an even stronger title: Game of the Year.
After 10 years in the making and a series of smaller iterations and demos, Astro Bot finally came out to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. Over the 90 levels, 60 planets, and six galaxies, the game takes players on a journey through gaming history. It uses up all that the new console generation has to offer. And although it is a PlayStation exclusive, which makes sense given all the context, Astro Bot has managed to win the hearts of most gamers.
]]>Astro Bot’s success has rubbed more salt into the already sore wounds of PlayStation flop Concord, which reportedly surpassed its global sales numbers with only physical sales in a two-day period in the U.K.
The two PlayStation exclusives could not have had more different experiences, with Concord dead on arrival and Astro Bot jumping from strength to strength. According to GameIndustry.biz head Chris Dring, sales of Astro Bot in the United Kingdom “aren’t huge,” but the only data available so far is only for physical copies. Despite this, he added that Astro Bot has “certainly sold more copies in the U.K. in just two days than Concord sold worldwide.”
]]>The giant white robot, Big Brother, returns in Astro Bot to help out the titular hero, or rather, Astro is here to help it out. The Free Big Brother! level has a lot of terrain to explore and is jam-packed with Bots, Puzzle Pieces, and a secret exit to find—some of which are a nightmare to track down.
Many of Astro Bot‘s levels are sprawling environments riddled with multiple trails of twists and turns. Free Big Brother! is one of the few levels foregoing the typical long linear level structure in favor of an open affair. You can explore much of the level from the get-go, but it dynamically changes once you free your sizable pal.
]]>Time to Cash In is one of many trophies you can collect in Astro Bot. You can get it in the Slo-Mo Casino level, around halfway through the game. While it might seem tricky at first glance, it’s easy when you know what to do—and we’ll tell you how.
How to complete the Time to Cash In trophy in Astro Bot
To find the four jackpot machines in Astro Bot, head to the Slo-Mo Casino level, located in the Serpent Stairway world. This is the third world in the game.
]]>Trapped in Time is the final level in Astro Bot’s Serpent Starway nebula and has some pretty well-hidden collectibles you need to find in various sub-areas.
Most of the Bots and Puzzle Pieces you need to find are hidden behind sand waterfalls and terrain or require defeating certain enemies, making for a tricky level. You can also easily miss stuff if you go too far, forcing you to restart the level from scratch.
]]>Every platformer needs its annoying water level, and Astro Bot is no exception; Bubbling Under is a confusing mess if you are trying to find every collectible on offer, may it be Bots, Puzzle Pieces, or the odd trophy.
The Jumping Through Hoops trophy in-game tasks you with finding and leaping through the ring in the level Bubbling Under. The level is huge, and finding the specific hoop you are after can be a bit disorientating if you end up going off on a tangent, unable to go back to a specific area, or getting too far.
]]>Astro Bot has a bunch of trophies for you to collect, and most of them are pretty straightforward. There are trophies, though, like What a Trip!, that require knowledge of one of Playstation’s latest IPs to know what you’re getting yourself into.
It’s one of the later achievements you can get, as the level you need to enter is the last one before taking on the final boss or the ten secret worlds you can get through warp portals in levels. But if things are confusing you, or you don’t know what a Tripcaster is, let us explain so you can get the trophy done and move on to the next one.
]]>One of the tricky trophies to grab in Astro Bot has nothing to do with the secret levels or Bots you can find; instead, it tasks you with killing two specific enemies simultaneously, which sounds simple enough at first.
The Double Dug-In trophy tasks you with taking out two Wormys simultaneously. But what is a Wormy? How can you beat two at once? Where can you find them? The trophy asks more questions than gives answers, but thankfully, there is a place where you can get the trophy in minutes.
]]>There are a bunch of trophies to unlock in Astro Bot, and many of them rely on your years of PlayStation knowledge to grasp what they could mean, with the Royally Stuck one being one of the more unique ones.
The trophy tasks you with getting close to a sticky sphere at the Crash Site, which, at first glance, could be everything. Don’t do what I did, though, and run around the Crash Site like a moron. The trophy refers to a character you need to find in one of the many levels in the galaxy and bring him home to use his unique gacha ability.
