The holidays are right around the corner, and Destiny 2 has a ton of loot to chase in celebration of the season via its annual Dawning event. Stay Frosty is the event pulse rifle, and its 2024 iteration comes with a few new perks.

Stay Frosty is a Stasis Lightweight Frame pulse rifle, and it can be hard for such an archetype to stand out among plenty of other pulse rifles in Destiny 2. However, the 2024 version received new perks, like Rimestealer and Lone Wolf, that can make it more competitive in both PvE and PvP.

The Dawning event is once again in full swing in Destiny 2. While baking delicious cookies to deliver to your favorite vendor is fun, the main reason to play is to hunt down great rolls of limited-time Dawning weapons such as Glacioclasm.

Glacioclasm is a High-Impact Frame Void Fusion Rifle, and in 2024, it has been reprised once more with a fresh set of perks. Unlike last year’s iteration, it has some spicy new options for PvP, including the new perk—Closing Time. Don’t forget that you can also enhance this weapon to get even more benefits from already great perks.

With Season of the Seraph in Destiny 2, Bungie launched its second set of collaborative cosmetics for the game. This time, the studio partnered with Ubisoft to bring three armor sets inspired by the Assassin’s Creed franchise and a few additional items to complete the look.

It was only in 2022’s Season of Plunder that Bungie revealed its first collaborative project of this kind, adding three Fortnite-inspired armor sets to Destiny 2 while Fortnite got a host of iconic Destiny characters as skins simultaneously. The Assassin’s Creed collab goes a step further, with the armor joined by many other cosmetics to allow Guardians to properly immerse themselves in the Brotherhood.

Destiny 2’s previous expansions unlocked for limited time in run up to The Final Shapehttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2s-previous-expansions-unlocked-for-limited-time-in-run-up-to-the-final-shapehttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2s-previous-expansions-unlocked-for-limited-time-in-run-up-to-the-final-shape#respondTue, 07 May 2024 18:23:07 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=1221977A perfect opportunity for new Destiny fans to play catch up.]]>

Destiny 2 continues to carry forward the momentum generated by the hugely successful launch of Into The Light, this time making three expansions—Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and The Witch Queen—free to play until The Final Shape launches on June 4.

The offer was announced today as it went live. The goal is clear: priming new Destiny 2 players for The Final Shape’s story by allowing them to experience the plot threads that led to the current moment for themselves. The limited-time offer even includes all of the current seasons. Lightfall’s absence from the list is certainly odd in its own right, but PlayStation Plus members can exclusively enjoy similar access to it as well.

Destiny 2 is doubling down on Master Rahool as the sole proprietor of Exotics with a restructure to his vendor page in The Final Shape. On June 4, he’ll not only be getting a Reputation Track but will also become the exclusive home of any new Exotic armor released.

No longer will players be subjected to the drop rates of Legend and Master Lost Sectors to get their hands on the latest Exotic gear. Instead, after resetting your rank with Rahool, you’ll gain access to a new tier of Exotic focusing. According to the This Week in Destiny blog which released today, this new focusing tier will allow you to purchase any piece of Exotic armor for one Exotic Engram and an Exotic Cipher. There’s also no weekly limits on this focusing option; the only limit is your available funds.

The next season of Apex Legends is fast approaching. After weeks of teasers and leaks, Respawn is finally giving us our first proper look at the new legend, Alter, in a cinematic scheduled to drop tomorrow at 10am CT.

There isn’t a lot to glean from the thumbnail alone, but the title of the video—Based on a True Story—as well as its description, suggest the mystery of who exactly this new legend actually is will be core to the character’s launch. They’ve already left quite the impression, having tampered with the Urban Assault event’s trailer and defaced the Apex Legends website’s legend pages with a plethora of insults aimed at the other characters.

Destiny 2 undoes sunsetting for legacy weapons in The Final Shapehttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2-undoes-sunsetting-for-legacy-weapons-in-the-final-shapehttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2-undoes-sunsetting-for-legacy-weapons-in-the-final-shape#respondThu, 25 Apr 2024 19:32:58 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=1210504Hope you held onto that Breachlight roll.]]>

Sunsetting was one of the most controversial features introduced with Destiny 2’s Beyond Light expansion—vast swaths of powerful weapons were suddenly capped out of being usable in high-end content. But in The Final Shape, Bungie is finally scrapping it entirely and removing the Power limits on legacy gear.

In today’s This Week in Destiny blog, which broke down the new Fireteam Power system, it was revealed that Destiny 2 will be un-sunsetting old weapons due to the caps being “fundamentally incompatible” with Fireteam Power. This is great news for every player who held onto their Perfect Paradox and Breachlight all this time but a slightly more bittersweet announcement for the vast majority who dismantled all of their legacy gear with the assumption the sunsetting was permanent.

Apex Legends’ latest collection event was announced today, marking the return of a successful limited-time mode, Three Strikes. In Urban Assault, which drops on April 23, players get another opportunity to tackle the fast-paced mode alongside the addition of a new asynchronous tournament system and a suite of streetwear skins.

The new event comes with a familiar package of content for an Apex collection event, with a few unexpected twists. The Apex Rumble Beta is the most significant of these: a competitive experience where players can earn points against similarly skilled opponents to climb the leaderboard, before earning rewards based on their overall placement once a Rumble has concluded.

Destiny 2 players debate crafting vs. attunement for chasing the perfect weaponhttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2-players-debate-crafting-vs-attunement-for-chasing-the-perfect-weaponhttps://dotesports.com/destiny/news/destiny-2-players-debate-crafting-vs-attunement-for-chasing-the-perfect-weapon#commentsWed, 17 Apr 2024 22:03:19 +0000https://dotesports.com/?p=1201976Into The Light has highlighted glaring issues in the crafting system.]]>

Destiny 2’s Into The Light update is a huge success if rising playercounts and glowing community praise is anything to go by. Its random weapon rolls and new attunement system have been so well received, in fact, it has reignited player ire around the prevalence of the game’s crafting system.

In a post today, content creator Skarrow9 lamented at just how much crafting, introduced to Destiny 2 in The Witch Queen, has “absolutely killed” the game’s loot incentive. It isn’t the first time crafting has come under fire for its impact on the grind, but Into The Light’s reward format was what really highlighted the issue for Skarrow. “I honestly haven’t had this much fun looking for guns in so long,” he wrote.
