Shadow of the Erdtree, the DLC expansion for FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, has been nominated for Game of the Year. The expansion stands alongside five other standalone games that were nominated: Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Elden Ring already won Game of the Year back in 2022, which means that if Shadow of the Erdtree takes home the top prize, it would be the first time in the ceremony’s history that a DLC expansion won the award, as well as make Elden Ring the first game to win the Game of the Year award twice.

A legendarily large price tag]]>The second and final season of Netflix’s League of Legends animated series Arcane is already here, and headlines about some behind-the-scenes drama have come out.
Last week, Variety reported how production costs for the series had ballooned past $250 million, making it the most expensive animated series ever made. This was caused, Variety says, by delays in script deliveries due to the fact that half of them weren’t even finished by the time production on season two was starting, as well as a “labor-intensive approach” to the show’s production. This is also not taking into account the large amounts of money League developer Riot Games poured in to promote the series—yet another big step in the company’s ambitious leap into entertainment.

Not long after Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz streamed himself playing Crazy Taxi with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Harris team established their own Twitch channel, the Harris campaign has released its own map on Fortnite. It goes by the name of Freedom Town, USA, and it takes place in a large cityscape filled with many of Harris’ signature posters and campaign slogans.

John Marston is finally making the jump to PC with a new Red Dead Redemption port.]]>14 years ago, Rockstar Games released the epic western game Red Dead Redemption. Since then, gamers have been clamoring for the game to release on PC after so many other ports to different consoles.
Now, after a series of leaks and rumors, Rockstar has officially confirmed that a PC port is not only real, but that it will also be released by the end of the month. The developer confirmed that both the original game and the Undead Nightmare expansion will be released together, and both will support modern day technical flourishes such as a native 4K resolution, HDR10, and additional upscaling technologies. Red Dead Redemption will be available to purchase on the Epic Games Store, Steam, and Rockstar’s own store page.

Creative director Al Hope released a statement today thanking fans all over the world for all the love that they have given the game over the last decade, and how passionate they are about a potential follow-up. Hope ended the message with a confirmation that a sequel to the game is currently in early development. While the director couldn’t share any details about what the sequel will be about or how it will play, he did say that more news will be deliveredin the future and that the development team is delighted to be working on the sequel.

The Last Airbender finally goes AAA.]]>The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is no stranger to being adapted to video games, and another new entry is currently in the works.
As reported by IGN, Saber Interactive and Paramount Game Studios are teaming up with Avatar Studios to create a AAA RPG set within the Avatar universe. According to the report, the game will feature a new protagonist never before seen in the franchise and be set thousands of years in the past. Details about gameplay were scarce, but the report did say that fans should expect to go on a journey across the world to learn all four elements just like past Avatars. and the announcement of the new game has led to a wave of various reactions by fans. No scalpers allowed.]]>The PlayStation 5 Pro is coming soon, and Sony celebrated with a limited edition 30th anniversary edition of the upgraded console in the original PlayStation grey. Even with the console’s high price, there were plenty of people still ready to get the upgrade.
Much like the original PlayStation 5, acquiring the console proved to be difficult due to the high amount of scalpers ready to resell the console at outrageously high prices, especially after the limited edition has already sold out. While this might be a problem over here in the US, Japan seems to have a way around these scalpers. On the Japanese PS5 Pro website, the reservation page for the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro has specific requirements listed at the bottom. In order to qualify, you must have a PlayStation Network account registered in Japan with a total of 30 hours of playtime between 2014 and 2024, on either the PS4 or PS5. Once this requirement is met, you must link your account with your My Sony ID, at which you’ll be able to complete your application.

No explanation given, but modders think something fishy went on.]]>The release of God of War Ragnarök on PC hasn’t been all that easy, with many bemoaning the technical issues and steep requirements needed to run the game. But the most unpopular requirement is that you have to have a PlayStation Network account in order to play.
This has led to the game getting several mixed reviews on Steam simply because of the PSN backlash, and some players taking matters into their own hands to find some workarounds. One player by the name of iArtorias created a mod that allowed people to bypass the PSN requirement, and even vowed to keep the mod online as long as possible. However, an update by Nexus mods seems to have dashed any hopes of that, as the site tweeted a message stating that the PSN-bypass mod was removed by the author and that the site was working on contacting them to figure out why.
