Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod CyberMP has gone through its first playtest, pitting 20 players in Night City in races and team deathmatch-style shootups.

The solo developer behind the CyberMP mod recently invited YouTuber Juicehead and other players to its first-ever playtest. With GTA Online-style server functionality already in place, the mod shows a lot of promise, as seen in Juicehead’s July 6 video. Players can roam the huge map of Night City together and engage in firefights or races against each other, which has been an unfulfilled dream for Cyberpunk 2077 players ever since its official multiplayer mode was shelved to focus on fixing the game.

A recent leak that surfaced on social media hints at the possibility Cyberpunk 2077 could have had an expansion that was set on the Moon, complete with an off-map experience around the size of Night City (excluding the Badlands) itself.

The leak that surfaced on June 15 shows us a scrapped expansion set on the Moon. The leaks consist of images of a lunar base along with maps and file data for what would have been an off-map expansion. The Moon, according to lore from the Cyberpunk 2077 wiki, is heavily colonized and dotted with corpo-run cities that mine resources with a population of around 58,000 people, which would have presented a unique location that is vastly different from the bustling Night City on Earth.

Cyberpunk 2077 has no shortage of customization options with its lifepaths, skill trees, and Cyberdecks that boost replayability. Surprisingly though, the CD Projekt title never got a New Game Plus mode, which has been a standard-fare feature in almost all modern RPGs.

The game’s lead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, explained CDPR’s reasoning in a June 5 interview with Dualshockers. According to Sasko, the conscious decision not to introduce a New Game Plus mode was solely based on the game’s narrative structure and how tacking it on would diminish its story.

CD Projekt Red, the publisher-developer of The Witcher and Cyberpunk, plans to increase the cadence of its upcoming major game releases. This means we could see a quicker turnaround time for the projects the Poland-based studio is working on.

This came off the company’s quarterly earnings call on Tuesday, May 28, where it talked about its strategy to make upcoming release schedules “less lumpy.” CDPR joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said the company, now with studios across Europe and the U.S., is working on several projects simultaneously.

There is no CPDR game without a vast roster of Easter eggs, and Cyberpunk 2077 is no exception. Now, a developer has revealed CDPR hid so many secrets in the game that players are yet to find them all.

Maria Mazur, the quest designer for the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion pack Phantom Liberty, spoke on the matter in an interview with GamesRadar on May 27. There are “so many Easter eggs,” Mazur explained, that developers can just kick back and wait for players to discover them. She also commented on the recent discovery of an Easter egg she had personally designed and was happy to see it, saying “those moments are kind of precious.”

A Cyberpunk 2077 player has finally bumped into a well-camouflaged Easter egg in the main menu, leaving the developers at CD Projekt Red pleased that at least someone in the community managed to find the secret.

X (formerly Twitter) user crushovitz uploaded a video of them uncovering the Easter egg, which neatly changes the patch version to the year Cyberpunk 2077 is set in. First reported by GamesRadar, all you have to do is to hover and keep your cursor on the patch version displayed in the top right until it changes to 2.0.77.

While the end of 2023 and the start of 2024 have been marred by thousands of layoffs across the gaming industry, CD Projekt Red is putting together a team of industry veterans for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and hiring across several roles.

In an official press release today, the company said it has put together a massive leadership team to work on Project Orion at the new CDPR Boston studio, featuring game dev veterans from some of gaming’s most successful and critically acclaimed titles. The producers, directors, and leads brought on by CDPR have worked on titles such as New World, Apex Legends, Hitman, Mortal Kombat, Control, Fable, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

The sequel for Cyberpunk 2077, Project Orion, was confirmed in October, and eager players are looking for hints everywhere in the game. One thinks they have found its location and date.

In a Reddit thread dated Jan. 14, a player shared a screenshot that indicates what they claim to be key information on the sequel. It’s a sign informing players of a road being built to link Night City to Chicago. It indicates it will open in 2080.

Cyberpunk 2077 has gone from strength to strength in 2023 and while we wind down the year new updates are still bringing fresh additions to the game—even just for meme value.

Bundled into Cyberpunk’s 2.1 update is a new appearance of Johnny Silverhand paying homage to one of actor Keanu Reeves’ most iconic internet moments. Sad Keanu is now in Cyberpunk 2077, first spotted by Kotaku, and you can see him in all his glory on the new subway system.

You might have eagerly waited for GTA 6‘s highly anticipated trailer, but a few hours prior, CD Projekt RED had something else for you to nibble on. Cyberpunk 2077‘s surprise 2.1 update has received a new trailer on Dec. 4.

As reported by VGC, the trailer offers an overview of the update’s main changes. It starts by showing the interface of new portable radios, a Porsche 911 Cabriolet that you’ll be able to use into new car races, new bikes, or romantic hangouts with partners. It’s also bringing a metro as a new way of transportation and a new highway.
