Super Smash Bros. has officially been around for 20 years in Europe, according to Nintendo’s tweet today.
Super Smash Bros. 64 was the first game of the series and was first released in Japan on January 21, 1999 with Europe and North America following behind later. Since then, childhoods everywhere severely improved, unless you had friends who mained Kirby and only spammed Down-B the entire game.
]]>The newest fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Terry Bogard, is finally here. And to coincide with his release, Nintendo is introducing key changes to several characters and a lot of content through the Version 6.0 Update.
From buffing Donkey Kong to adding new Mii Fighters, the 6.0 Update has a lot to offer in terms of improving Smash Ultimate’s quality of life, especially when it comes to adding some basic options that fans have been asking for to the online Battle Arenas.
]]>The release date for the fourth DLC character in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, has finally been revealed.
In a special 45-minute presentation about Terry and the history of video game company SNK, Nintendo said that the fighter is set to be released later today.
]]>Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct will focus on Terry Bogard, the popular character from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series.
Terry has been an anticipated addition to Smash Ultimate and remains one of the most iconic characters to have graced a fighting game. He was first announced in September, but the new 45-minute Direct will likely dive into the character’s fighting style and move set.
]]>Terry Bogard from the Fatal Fury series could be added to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster sooner than some fans expected after the latest Spirit Board listing showed an SNK copyright for the first time.
Smash Bros. fans already knew the Terry DLC was going to be released in November since the timeline was shown during his reveal. But the SNK copyright wasn’t present in the Tetris Spirit Event that began on Oct. 25. This is important because the inclusion of the new company in the fine print of the next drop suggests that, at the very least, the drop could be coming soon.
]]>Smash Ultimate Summit 2 was a weekend of top players getting together to compete at the highest level in wacky Super Smash Bros. Ultimate events like Squad Strike and Crew Battles. But it also featured what’s become the Leonardo “MKLeo” Lopez tournament special.
After three-stocking both Tyler “Marss” Martins and Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey, Leo suffered a rare loss to Ezra “Samsora” Morris in the winners semifinals. But that didn’t seem to faze him. After a brief bout of trouble, the No. 1 player in the world back-aired his way back into the finals before taking down the Peach main to win the tournament.
]]>Sota “Zackray” Okada is one of the youngest players to become a top-level contender in a Super Smash Bros. game—and he finally managed to win it all at The Big House 9 earlier today.
Zackray didn’t just win any Major, though. He did it at arguably the deepest event for Smash Ultimate so far with nearly every top player in attendance and upsets happening around every corner. The sheer level of competition is highlighted by the top eight where Randy “RFang” Fang and Enrique “Maister” Solís joined some of the biggest names in the game.
]]>The final hours before players get invited to a Super Smash Bros. Summit event are always filled with wild antics, lots of streams, and last-minute vote drops that players like William “Leffen” Hjelte try to coordinate.
As the first invites were sent out for the Smash Ultimate Summit 2, Leffen’s community pooled its votes and provided the spirit bomb necessary for him to get in today. But what’s even crazier is how the South Carolina Smash scene pushed so hard and got a smaller player, Randy “RFang” Fang, in too.
]]>One of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC fighter has been under constant controversy since the first day of his release in July.
Hero has caused a rift in the Smash community. Over 3,000 people have signed a petition to ban him from the competitive scene. It could all just be blown out of proportion by a certain sulking Swedish Melee player and his followers, or the character could legitimately be a problem.
]]>When the creator of a game bans its own character from official tournaments, you know something is wrong.
Nintendo of France has banned Dragon Quest Hero from all of its future Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments. This ban will go into effect starting with the European Team Cup event on Sept. 29.
