One of the biggest ATP stars in the last few years, Daniil Medvedev, has joined Rainbow Six: Siege in a hilarious and perfectly timed crossover.

In an X post on Aug. 25, Ubisoft revealed the tennis player’s Rainbow Six: Siege bundle, which contains a Medvedev-inspired headgear, uniform, charm, and MP7 weapon skin. You can pick up the Bandit Daniil bundle from the in-game shop for free until Sept. 8, but you need to pay to claim it afterward.

The Esports World Cup entered August with a bang, opening the second half of the massive celebration of esports with Rainbow Six Siege on July 31. 16 teams from across the globe battled for one of the largest prize pools in the esport’s history—a massive $2 million USD.

Teams also competed for EWC Club Championship points on their way to the major prize. It was the third top-tier tournament of the calendar year for Rainbow Six and set up the road to Montreal for the BLAST Major in November.

Ubisoft recently unveiled a monthly subscription service—dubbed “R6 membership”—for its long-running competitive tactical shooter, Rainbow 6 Siege. And, as you probably guessed, it got Siege fans absolutely riled up.

The R6 membership announcement came paired with the reveal of Operation New Blood on stage at the BLAST R6 Major Manchester 2024 event for Rainbow Six Siege. While the new operation had a lukewarm reception, the monthly subscription service clearly didn’t sit well with fans. The announcement video was drowned out by boos from the live crowd at the LAN event (check out the live reaction video on TikTok captured by Royza Gaming). Reception from the online community isn’t much different, either.

Rainbow Six Siege continues to maintain a vast player base after nine years, and in a recent interview at the Siege Invitational 2024 in Brazil, creative director Alexander Karpazis said the game could last indefinitely and doesn’t need a sequel.

First reported by PC Gamer, Karpazis said: “We really do know that this is a game that can last forever with the people and the talent and the tools that we have today,” hinting a sequel isn’t on the cards and may never be. With all the continuous support planned for Rainbow Six Siege, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to most players.

The newest season of Rainbow Six Siege, Deep Freeze, has been formally delayed to a later date. There’s just one small issue: the season has already loaded on the Xbox platform, which has left players in complete limbo.

Where Ubisoft goes from here is anyone’s guess. There’s no way they can allow Xbox players the new season and not anyone else, the outcry would be too severe. Rolling back the new season on the platform would take time, and would lock players out of playing the game for a few days. Allowing the new season to stay locked until release would take even more time, and would be unacceptable for Xbox players.

New Rainbow Six Siege operation, Deep Freeze, has been postponed to an undisclosed date, mere hours before it was set to be launched. The announcement came from Ubisoft’s official channels as players were gearing up for Deep Freeze’s release.

The test server for Deep Freeze has been plagued with a number of issues. There have been multiple bugs with Lair, the newest map to hit Siege, that could’ve been game-breaking had they released today. The newest operator to hit the servers, Tubarão, is also comically broken. The brutal new operator seems set to ensure that the game re-enters one of its worst metas to play and watch, the “20-second meta,” upon Tubarão’s release into competitive play.

Tubarão, the latest operator to be introduced to Rainbow Six: Siege, is looking extremely strong with his Zoto Canisters and all of their interactions.

Historically, Siege has been a defender-sided game, but attackers have always had a way to win every single round. Tubarão is extremely strong, and he might push the game to the most defender-sided meta we’ve ever seen at any level.

With a 3-1 victory over LOS in the Rainbow Six Siege Atlanta Major grand finals, W7M has now won every Major during this cycle, and their eyes are now turning to the crown jewel in any player’s trophy case: the Six Invitational, a world title, and raising the hammer.

Despite being by far and away the most accomplished region in the modern era of Siege, a Brazilian team has only lifted the hammer once. Ninjas in Pyjamas took home the title over Team Liquid in the COVID-19-addled SI held in Paris.

The new Rainbow Six Siege operation called Deep Freeze is almost here, and a couple of tweaks to secondary gadgets have competitive players dreading the meta at SI.

The new Rainbow Six: Siege season, Deep Freeze, is coming with a bevy of updates to the long-running tactical shooter, including a new map, new operator, updates to the Reputation System, and access to the marketplace beta.

The marketplace is arguably the biggest update to the game in some time. It will run on R6 Credits instead of real money, but players can still both buy and sell their in-game items. You’ll only be able to get R6 Credits back for your sales, but it’s still a substantial update to the core game.
