The Danger Barricade cosmetic in Rust, launched in the weekly community item store, has undergone forced changes after a major exploit had players crying pay-to-win. Those who bought the skin, however, are demanding refunds from the developer after purchasing the now-changed barricade as they intended to abuse the exploit.

Unlike the existing concrete Barricade skins in Rust, the Danger Barricade’s creator Kelmolegendwas designed it so that there was a transparent part in its structure. The Danger Barricade consisted of three wooden posts with a slight gap between them. You can’t shoot between the gap of the barricade as it only gives vision—but one player was quick to find an exploit when putting two of the barricades together.

The Rust community has been dealing with cheaters since the game’s early access days, and many players have taken to Reddit to express their disdain and concerns over the problem. Some question the effectiveness of the game’s anti-cheat feature, while others debate over Facepunch, Modded, or Community servers.

While seasoned Rust players have grown used to the issue and can often distinguish a cheater from a legitimately skilled player, newer players might not have the same amount of insight and experience. 

Twitch is offering free Rust drops again this week, but you have a limited time to collect the handful of items.

The Base Invaders Rust event in Twitch Rivals kicked off on Sept. 10, bringing six collectible items for viewers tuning into the streams. Base Invaders concluded on the same day, with two items now unavailable as drops, though you can still earn four skins—if you hurry.

Rust developers Facepunch Studios enforce a force wipe in the game on the first Thursday of every month, resetting every player’s progress in the official and community servers. This restarts all the servers, thereby making you grind to establish your base and collect loot once again.
