With only two weeks until the Fortnite World Cup starts, Epic Games have provided details on updates for upcoming competitive events.

Most notably, Epic has confirmed that Arena and in-game tournaments will now be locked at 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning players will no longer be able to play on a stretched resolution.

Players previously were able to change the resolution of their game to widen the aspect ratio. This usually means that a normal 16:9 ratio changes to around 4:3. Benefits of doing this include higher FPS and targets becoming more visible. Playing in stretched resolution during competitive matches have been highly debated among pro players. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has spoken out the feature in the past, saying “you have a clear advantage.”
