It’s June, which means it is time for the Counter-Strike 2<\/strong><\/em> mid-season player break\u2014a month for players to sit back, relax, rest their eyes, or prepare their resumes as everything builds to the back half of the calendar year and the all-important Shanghai Major.<\/p>

It’s been a packed year so far with a few Counter-Strike <\/em>squads finding consistency over the past few months, but for others, the highest of highs have been pockmarked by occasional slip-ups. Others still have failed to meet the lofty expectations set by organizations or fans\u2014and roster changes seem inevitable.<\/p>

Not a day into the player break we had already seen a huge shift at the top. What will the CS2<\/a><\/em> landscape look like come mid-July when we kick back off?<\/p>

Here’s a full day-by-day rundown of every major roster change in CS2<\/em><\/strong> this offseason.<\/p>

July 17<\/strong>: Riyadh’s Esports World Cup CS2<\/em> tournament<\/a> kicks off its main stage, with many orgs debuting their new rosters at the tournament.<\/p>

July 16<\/strong>: Argentinian player try departs 9z’s bench for Imperial<\/a>.<\/p>

July 12<\/strong>: Benched Cloud9 rifler and Major champion Hobbit joins 1win<\/a>. Jks and ultimate are officially confirmed<\/a> as the new duo at Team Liquid.<\/p>

July 11<\/strong>: Cloud9 confirms the addition<\/a> of HeavyGod, interz, and ICY. MithR is revealed<\/a> as the new coach for Team Liquid.<\/p>

July 10<\/strong>: Monte announces<\/a> former ENCE duo hades and dycha as the team’s newest pairing. BIG replaces prosus with rigoN<\/a>.<\/p>

July 9<\/strong>: Ex-TL rifler skullz links up with Brazilian superteam FURIA<\/a>, while rumors suggest Liquid is set to add Aussie jks and Polish AWPer ultimate<\/a>. Elsewhere, rumors suggest Cloud9 will rebuild around interz, ICY, HeavyGod, Boombl4, and Ax1Le<\/a>.<\/p>

July 5<\/strong>: Woro2k is released from Monte<\/a>, while Swedish IGL ztr lands at GamerLegion<\/a> to replace Snax.<\/p>

July 4<\/strong>: NRG celebrates Independence Day by adding “Captain America” nitr0<\/a>, who is replacing Walco.<\/p>

July 3<\/strong>: G2 drops a bombshell announcement: GamerLegion IGL and former VP legend Snax will captain the squad<\/a> into the new season. This comes as a shock to the community who questions whether the move can work out.<\/p>

Rumors of Nexa’s move to Bleed are correct, with the Serbian rifler joining the squad<\/a> for outgoing German faveN.<\/p>

July 1<\/strong>: Embattled IGL HooXi benched by G2<\/a>. The Dane is not expected to remain on the bench for long given it’s midway through the player break, but his days in G2 are certainly over.<\/p>

Elsewhere, the Danish core of Altekz, niko, and acoR link up with valde and Zyphon at TSM<\/a>, who will restart attempts to crack the higher tiers of competitive Counter-Strike<\/em>.<\/p>

June 30<\/strong>: GamerLegion parts ways with AWPer acoR<\/a>, who is expected to link up with Danish players niko and Altekz.<\/p>

June 28<\/strong>: G2 officially welcomes malbsMd<\/a> as a replacement for Nexa, who has been linked with former coach Kassad and his project at Bleed.<\/p>

June 27<\/strong>: Nitr0, who was planned to link up with M80’s CS2<\/em> roster after his stint with the org’s VALORANT<\/em> team, will instead go a different route<\/a> after the two parties could not come to an agreement.<\/p>

June 24<\/strong>: Nitr0 has announced he intends to return to Counter-Strike<\/em><\/a> for his third stint after a season of VALORANT<\/em>. The American IGL is yet to record an official in CS2<\/em>.<\/p>

Elsewhere, skullz has reportedly signed with FURIA, replacing kye who has been moved to the bench<\/a>. This leaves Team Liquid with just three players.<\/p>

June 18<\/strong>: M80 releases Argentinian malbsMd<\/a>, with rumors suggesting he will be acquired by G2.<\/p>

June 17<\/strong>: Team Liquid makes its first move for the offseason<\/a>, benching Danish IGL and AWPer cadiaN after a tumultuous period. Rumors suggest coach zews and rifler skullz may also be out of the team.<\/p>

G2 also announced the departure of nexa<\/a> not long after the team wrapped its season with a win at IEM Dallas<\/a> and a last-place finish at BLAST Premier: Spring Final<\/a>.<\/p>

June 16<\/strong>: BLAST Premier: Spring Final is won by Team Spirit<\/a> and ESL Challenger J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping is won by Complexity\u2014this officially kicks off the offseason.<\/p>

June 11<\/strong>: Brollan’s loan with NiP ends, with MOUZ taking on the Swede full-time after a successful 2024 season<\/a> which included two offline titles, a top-eight finish at the Copenhagen Major, and a second-place finish at IEM Chengdu.<\/p>

J<\/b>une 8<\/strong>: Smooya is acquired by Into The Breach (ITB)<\/a>, a U.K.-based org revamping its squad for the back half of 2024. He is later joined by former Guild Eagles players sinnopsyy (June 10) and juanflatroo (June 14), as well as GamerLegion’s benched Belgian Keoz (June 15).<\/p>

Others still have failed to meet the lofty expectations set by organizations or fans\u2014and roster changes seem inevitable. Not a day into the player break we had already seen a huge shift at the top. What will the CS2 landscape look like come mid-July when we kick back off? Here's a full day-by-day rundown of every major roster change in CS2 this offseason. All CS2 2024 mid-year roster changes, sorted by date July 17: Riyadh's Esports World Cup CS2 tournament kicks off its main stage, with many orgs debuting their new rosters at the tournament. July 16: Argentinian player try departs 9z's bench for Imperial. July 12: Benched Cloud9 rifler and Major champion Hobbit joins 1win. Jks and ultimate are officially confirmed as the new duo at Team Liquid. July 11: Cloud9 confirms the addition of HeavyGod, interz, and ICY. MithR is revealed as the new coach for Team Liquid. July 10: Monte announces former ENCE duo hades and dycha as the team's newest pairing. BIG replaces prosus with rigoN. July 9: Ex-TL rifler skullz links up with Brazilian superteam FURIA, while rumors suggest Liquid is set to add Aussie jks and Polish AWPer ultimate.
