Lords of the Fallen publisher CI Games was recently spotted filing for a sequel set to come out in 2026. While it is planned for a multiplatform release, its PC distribution partner is bad news for Steam partisans.

Reported first by Polish site Bankier on June 15, the binding report between CI Games and Epic Games mentions the 2026 Lords of the Fallen sequel, which currently has “Project 3” as its working title. The legal agreement grants Epic exclusive worldwide distribution rights on PC “for the entire product life cycle.”

Only a little over a month after the Master of Fate update, Hexworks has surprised Lords of the Fallen players with another free content drop featuring highly requested game modes.

In a free Clash of Champions content update on May 30, Lords of the Fallen received two new Boss Rush modes for players who want an ultimate challenge. These modes are available via the game’s Vestige checkpoint markers and allow you to re-experience your favorite boss fights by yourself in singleplayer or with another Lampbearer in online co-op. On top of that, the patch brings further performance improvements.

Lords of the Fallen developer Hexworks just released another patch with fixes and performance improvements, but in a twist of fate far less surprising than it should be, the update also introduced pervasive graphical problems to Umbral.

Patch 1.1.326, which went live on Nov. 16, came with a whole host of much-requested changes, including harder bosses and better lock-on—but it’s not all sunshine and roses. The developer made a custom engine improvement aiming to bolster performance in Umbral, but in the process, added tons of egregious pop-in that wasn’t there before.

Before the year is out, Lords of the Fallen players can look forward to free extra content including new quest lines, items, fun game modifiers for New Game Plus, and a whole lot more.

Hexworks laid out the roadmap for the rest of the year on Nov. 7. The highlight is three new armor sets: The dark Umbral Armor, the tough Rhogar Armor, and the bright Radiant Armor. These armor sets will be unlockable by finishing new quest lines. There’s also a new quest line event coming up, with more details to follow.

Lords of the Fallen patch 1.1.282 is here, and there are quite a few changes to key weapons, enemy AI, and some minor housecleaning for all intrepid Lampbearers out there.

Arguably, the biggest changes are to The Scarlet Shadow, specifically to make it harder to use cheese strategies against. The full list is:

Lords of the Fallen developer Hexworks is releasing patch after patch to try and fix the game, but lately, it seems like every update is making things worse, not better.

In the latest blunder, Hexworks effectively reduced the power of everyone’s boss weapons by half. Boss weapons initially were upgradeable up to +5, like Dark Souls, but there were widespread reports of them being vastly overpowered in PvP, especially Pieta’s Sword.

Facing Lords of the Fallen’s wobbly reception, the developers are going full steam ahead releasing patch after patch fixing performance problems, gameplay issues, bugs, and more. The latest update, the Pumpkin Patch, adds a new Halloween-themed quest among other much-needed changes.

The update, Ver. 1.1.249, goes live at 4pm CT today, Oct. 26, 2023. Players can unlock an exclusive helm, the unsettling Pumpskin Mask, by completing a new seasonal quest. Additionally, Mournstead has been decorated with spooky seasonal cosmetics to spice things up.

Despite nailing many aspects of the Souls formula that fans know and love, Lords of the Fallen launched to a mixed reception. Glitches and performance issues marred the experience for many, and now, players lamenting about how easy it is to fail NPC quests or lock yourself out of endings.

In a Reddit post dated Oct. 24, one player recounted how they accidentally failed the quest to unlock Lords of the Fallen’s Umbral ending simply by opening a door after defeating the boss guarding it.

Lords of the Fallen proved to be a strong force in sales after selling 1 million copies despite the criticisms that revolved around its release on Oct. 13, mainly because of performance issues.

The action RPG developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games already amassed the 1 million mark in terms of sales in just 10 days. The game’s official Twitter account posted the team’s appreciation for the people who supported the game right from the beginning.

Lords of the Fallen launched on Oct. 13 to a very mixed reception. Critics and players alike are completely divided: There are reviews on both ends of the spectrum, and just like Marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it.

Fans cherished its old-school approach to the Souls formula, with an interconnected world dotted with sparse checkpoints, clever shortcuts, and gorgeous vistas, while detractors rightfully criticized its performance issues, glitches, and lack of quality-of-life features, among other frustrating idiosyncrasies.
