Overwatch’s <\/em>player base continues to grow. Blizzard’s first-person shooter has reached 30 million players, the developer announced today. The game was last reported to have 25 million players<\/a> in late January. In October, Overwatch<\/em> had 20 million players across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game’s growth seems to even out at around five million players every few months. Overwatch’s <\/em>continued growth is impressive, though it is unclear whether Blizzard means there are 30 million active Overwatch <\/em>accounts, or if 30 million copies of the game have sold. A Morgan Stanley report<\/a> released in late March suggests Overwatch <\/em>has around 17 million active monthly players, however. “More than 30 million players have charged into Overwatch<\/em>,” Blizzard said in a tweet. “Thanks for grouping up with us, heroes. We couldn’t ask for a better team.” <\/p>
Perhaps not a coincidence, Overwatch <\/em>is currently running its Overwatch <\/em>Uprising event<\/a>, which likely was a draw for new players. A new cooperative brawl added a player-versus-environment element to Overwatch<\/em>, while also expanding on the world’s ever-growing lore.
