Hot off the heels of their win for Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards, Tekken 8 revealed the final character for the season one character pass: Clive Rosfield, the protagonist from Final Fantasy 16. Fans had been speculating who the final character would be, with many believing it’d be a guest character due to how big of a stage TGA is, rather than simply announcing something at a Tekken-specific event.

When you first load into Final Fantasy XIV, you need to find your character a World and Data Center to play on. The options may seem limitless, but you still want to pick one that suits your playstyle and personal requirements.

Depending on the server, players might be unable to make a character on some Data Centers. For example, at the time of writing, the Crystal Data Center is considered congested, meaning players cannot make any characters on Crystal. You can customize your character in several ways in Final Fantasy XIV. One of the more unique ways you can do it is with hairstyles, which give your character a distinct haircut compared to others. And there are new hairstyles you can get in the Dawntrail expansion.

Nine years since her first appearance in patch 2.5 and four years since her first makeover in patch 5.4, the Cloud of Darkness will be getting yet another revamp comeback in Final Fantasy XIV.

Her newest appearance was confirmed in the most recent Letter from the Producer LIVE, where director Naoki Yoshida and producer Toshio Murouchi previewed what players can expect in FFXIV patch 7.1 this November. After announcing that they’re adding a completely new kind of battle content to the game, the devs revealed the Cloud of Darkness in her new arena to a chorus of groans from the live audience. 

DDoS attacks are an inevitable annoyance while playing any popular MMO—but things are really getting out of hand in Final Fantasy XIV. The North American servers have been battered with on-off attacks for just under a full week, and fans aren’t happy about it. 

The attacks first started on Sept. 18, targeting FFXIV’s European and Japanese servers and NA until full recovery on Sept. 20. After one day of respite, the disconnects ramped up again starting on Sept. 22, primarily affecting NA servers. Since then, the devs have been playing whack-a-mole with persistent attacks lasting at least a few hours each day.

Apparently, it’s none other than dear Ardbert, the poster boy of the game itself and the narrator of Shadowbringers, one of FFXIV’s most critically acclaimed expansions. Japanese game news site GAME Watch first reported on the revelation in their coverage of the recent official concert, “THE PRIMALS Live in Japan – Darkest Before Dawn,” where the Japanese VA for Ardbert was invited onstage to MC the beginning of the event. 

As the initial hype for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail dies down, a hotfix for the recently released Patch 7.05 is here to clean up some of the extra anti-congestion methods implemented at launch, as well as a few of the nastier FFXIV bugs.

Server congestion was the biggest issue looming over Dawntrail’s major launch, with tons of mitigation measures put in place as soon as the FFXIV expansion went into early access. Now that everyone’s had time to blitz through the new MSQ, it looks like those early restrictions are being eased up, starting with the latest hotfix.
